Discover the magic of Tuxtla Gutierrez and its surroundings with this one day adventures that will take place on December 8, for all participants of ATMEX. 

1. Underground adventure Chorreadero Waterfall

We will get inside the cavern, right where the “El Chorreadero” waterfall is born. Once inside, we will walk through a conduit that takes us to a huge natural room where a stream flows, forming underground waterfalls and pools of great beauty. The tour continues following the stream and we will do exciting rappels, jumps and swim repeatedly.

8:00am pick up in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, place TBD.

2. Our original villages and their ancestral legacy

Out of the conventional journeys, this route will drives you to experience a unique way of life where you´ll be part of a great native culture; we will not only walk through the streets of San Cristóbal de Las Casas, we will visit its traditional market, we will buy representative products of the region that we will later taste in a traditional kitchen of Zinacantán, a Mayan village, where we will learn the historical textiles legacy that has transcended to nowadays, and also we will be able to admire pre-Hispanic instruments that are a fundamental part of the elaboration of beautiful pieces of Mexican folk art. Finally, together we will participate in the preparation of the food with  María and her family, after that we will taste it. To continue the experience, we will visit San Juan Chamula, another Mayan Village, where we will learn that the mysticism that surrounds the village is product of the religious syncretism. 

After this amazing experience we will return to San Cristóbal for a tasting menu in a country style restaurant to finish our journey back in Tuxtla Gutiérrez to end the adventure.

3. Horseback riding to San Juan Chamula and trekking to Zinacantan.

Adventure and cultural tour to get to know and be in contact with the nature of the mountain riding among tall trees and corn plantations, walking paths and trails between pine and oak forests and learn about the work of the people of the Mayan Tzotzil communities. Their uses and customs, their culture and way of living, sharing a little bit with a local family and eating at home, is an experience to understand the ancestral traditions and the meaning of corn. 

In the tour it is included: Ground transportation to the stables, horses for the tour, tour guide and assistant for the horseback riding and trekking, entrances to the communities, 1 bottle of water, 1 typical lunch at the house of the family we visit, if there are vegetarian or vegan people please tell us before, insurance for the activities, first aid kit. Transportation for the return..

Each person must to bring: A small back pack to transport personal belongings and water, comfortable shoes to walk with non-slip sole and high heel and flexible, long pants no shorts, a jacket for the cold weather of the morning and afternoon.

4. Bird watching and nature photography in el Ocote biosphere reserve

Armando Zebadua is a community located in the buffer zone of the El Ocoto Biosphere Reserve. In this region, the predominant vegetation is high jungle, so bird watching and nature photography is unique and above all because it is close to the capital of Chiapas.

We will leave Tuxtla Gutierrez at 06:00 am to go to the Armando Zebadua ejido, a place where the birdlife is the main attraction for tourism that seeks to take photographs of the birds or simply observe them, national and international people.

During the tour it is possible to see the 3 toucan species that live in Mexico, hawks, tinamues, 2 species of hummingbirds with a restricted distribution for the region.

Our visit lasts 4 hours. At the end of our tour we will enjoy our breakfast sharing our travel experience.

5. Flavors of Chiapas Cultural and Gastronomic Experience

Visit Copoya and Tuxtla Gutierrez.

8:10 am to 11 am city tour to Copoya and a visit to the “Cristo de Copoya”

6. Sima del Cielo. Zoque Adventure

Country vibe to have a relaxing day. Enjoy a picnic under several trees, walk on the trails while you get to know the different plants of the region and go to fish red mojarras on the lake. 

Venture out inside of the Sima, it has 35m deep. It is the house of many parrots, a natural gift from the planet. There are many unknown simas on the region so can’t miss the chance to get to know one!

Note: If you are going to descent inside the sima, it is not allowed the use of pefume, sunscreen nor insect repellent. You can use it after the activity. 

7. Flight in Ultralight and Sima de las Cotorras

Transfer to Valle Bonito aerodrome to fly over with an impressive perspective of the Sima de las Cotorras and the surroundings of the valley, transfer to the Sima de las Cotorras, to enjoy this site (it has adventure activities) lunch at Ocozocoautla / return to Tuxtla Gtz.

7:00 pick up at the hotel and transfer to Valle Bonito airfield
8:00 arrival and tourist breakfast / overflight- people must weigh a maximum of 120 kg.

11:00 transfer to the Sima de Las Cotorras and tour

8. Biotourism, knowing the biodiversity of Zimbac in the zoque region of Chiapas

The flora and fauna of Chiapas is one of the most diverse in Mexico, rainforest areas such as Lacandona and the Zoque jungle. Only the Lacandona jungle is home to 20% of Mexico’s flora and the Zoque jungle has more than 3,500 species of plants.

Jabirú Bioturismo Travel is a brand with the objective of promoting the love and conservation of Biodiversity in a recreational way.

This time we will visit Zimba, where we will take a tour to learn about biodiversity, waterfalls and caves. Accompanied by 2 certified guides, they will travel one of the main trails surrounded by jungle vegetation. Here it is possible to see different types of shellfish, as well as reptiles or amphibians; of which the glass frog is present, distributed in Central and South America.

After the tour, we will make a stopover in San Fernando to see the Sima de Villa Rica, this activity will take us one hour. Later we will go to Tuxtla Gutierrez.

10. Adventure inside El Amate Cave

This adventure consists of crossing a whole cave of approx. 2 km defying some difficulties along the way and at the same time appreciating the large amounts of rock formations, which make this place an experience of challenges and observation.

11. Paragliding

Enjoy an unforgetable flight next to a professional. 12. Cultural experience on the Zoque cocoa route

Our adventure begins by transferring to the Rancho del Lago del Rey Nezahualcóyotl where you will have the experience of touring and feeling the cocoa plantations, learn about the art and the process of making chocolate and taste a ranch meal, an experience that will awaken your senses!

13. Bike Expedition through the viewpoint of the canyon.

They will be provided the bicycle equipment and helmets, an adventure guide will take us to the viewpoints during a bicycle tour of approximately 40 minuts, free time for photos and after that retorn to Tuxtla Gutiérrez.

14. AERIAL TOUR AND CULTURAL EXPERIENCE
