  • If something has marked Antonio’s life and training, it has been his deep connection with the outdoors world. He began his “formal” involvement with the outdoors as a Scout at age 8, and since then every stage of his life has revolved around finding opportunities to be outdoors. From his professional training to his hobbies, contact with nature is the common denominator. For the last 12 years, since the founding of one of his companies, Experiencias Genuinas, Antonio has sought to build a team of experts through whom he has been able to shape a new way of designing destinations and doing tourism. Our motto “Nobody protects what he does not love and does not love what he does not know” … has become our mission. We facilitate access to incredible places, worthy of admiration, respect and conservation.

  • “Working actively as the President of the Midwest Chapter the past four years, our chapter worked hard in 2016 to defeat a major tax proposal in Illinois that would have imposed a 5.5% sales tax on Illinois travel agencies. Our Grassroots efforts generated over 1300 messages to State Legislators. In addition, our ASTA Members called and had personal meetings with key legislators. We successfully got our ASTA Members as well as non-ASTA Members involved. That, in turn, helped us gain new members for our chapter. Non-members saw the value of ASTA first-hand.
ASTA requires a strong leadership team on the Board of Directors, but even more we need strong chapters for the Grassroots efforts that are needed for advocacy. We have a challenge at the Chapter level getting our members involved and also gaining new members into our chapters. As an active chapter president for the past four years, I can bring knowledge of the chapters and ideas to the Board of Directors to help with these issues.
Since the day I took my first position as a retail travel agent in 1990, I have learned and grown within this industry. I am proud to say I have always worked for owners who saw the value of ASTA and were active members of this organization. Now it my turn to continue to promote this organization and our industry and make it even stronger!”

  • Degree in Tourism and Master in Anthropological Sciences, with specialization in Social Anthropology. I have 3 diplomas, one focused on the Management of Tourism Projects in the Rural Environment, another in Environmental Education and the last in Business Leadership.
Since 2008 I have focused on tourism from the “sustainable” version, being the municipal coordinator of the Agenda 21 program for Sustainable Tourism in Mexico, a program that I coordinate for two years in partnership with the SECRETARY OF TOURISM. In July 2009 I entered the world of beaches, through a federal program promoted by CONAGUA called PROPLAYAS (Clean Beaches Program). In 2009 I had to create the first Operational Management of beaches in Mexico for Huatulco, Oaxaca.
In 2012, we began to replicate our experiences on coastal resource management in 5 coastal municipalities of Oaxaca. My main strength was the formation of the Clean Beach Committees, the beach certifications (under three sustainable schemes), environmental education programs and the recovery of coastal biodiversity in balance with tourism activity, including the consolidation of the Huatulco Tortuguero Camp and the formation of the Wildlife Committee in Santa María Huatulco.
Currently I coordinate through the WWF, the project called: Integration of Biodiversity Conservation Criteria for the Tourism Sector in Mexico with emphasis on Coastal Ecosystems Rich in Biodiversity. Specifically the corridor from Chacahua to Huatulco, kuxatur project.
