The name “Familiarization Trip” or better known as FAM absolutely cannot transmit the importance this tool has for a destination. On the contrary, it’s an arid and impersonal term which perfectly describes the goal of those who organize it: take, as if shepherding a flock, as many travel agents as you can, to the most places, in the shortest possible time. Many people cringe when they hear the word FAM.

El nombre “viaje de familiarización” o mejor conocido como FAM en absoluto logra transmitir la importancia que esta herramienta tiene para un destino. Al contrario, es un término árido e impersonal que describe perfectamente el objetivo de aquel quién lo organiza: llevar, como rebaño, el mayor número de agentes al mayor número de lugares en el menor tiempo posible. Muchas personas de la industria le rehuyen a la palabra FAM y a lo que significa.
